Alex Heitman Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I don't really have a big flipping or pitching stick. I don't want a really expensive one since I won't use it that much but would like to have one. What are your recommendations? Thanks
Fish24/7 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 get whatever flippin stick you want ......as long as it says Gary Klein Or Greg Hackney on it Greg's rods have the "perfect" action imo I couldn't find the Hackney pt signature series online but Gary's is available at a few stores for less than $150 I've got an older Klein stick that has the spiral guide wrap, robert's wrap, it's a keeper!
dtrs5kprs Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I will catch heck for it, but I've caught more fish flipping with mid-range BPS sticks than any others. Won my first tmt flipping with an old Pro Qualifier. Also have an old All Star that I like. I prefer them to telescope too. Mostly I flip and pitch with a 7' heavy, either a St Croix SCV, or an old 7' Loomis GL3.
Alex Heitman Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 I love the old I think 2004ish pro qualifier rods. Have 2 of them and they are awesome. I would prefer to spend a $100 or less just because I won't be doing it that much.
merc1997 Bo Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 i use braid all the time for just about any fishing, and with braid a 7' mh will do just fine to flip and pitch with. in fact, i bought a couple of cabela's tourney trail rods the other day that were on sale for 29.88, and they are a good rod. IM7 blank, great backbone. bo
Smalls21 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 check sportman's outlet ebay store, could probably pick up a lew's rod cheap

Soft enough you don't have to fool with a moderate taper rod to keep them pinned, but light enough. Alex, you must have seen a weather report that includes water in the bushes. Alex Heitman 1
balsabee Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 $50 BPS outlet.....Veritas, Carbonlites, Johnny Morris signature rods. Fish24/7 1
5bites Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I short line fish as much as I can. I don't use an actual flipping stick. I use a 7-1 heavy since a pitch most of the time.
