Moswimb8slinger Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 The Show Me Kayak Fishing Association is hosting the 2nd Mo-Yak event out of the White Wing Resort on Indian Point, Saturday, May 2. Moswimb8slinger Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 Here's a rough idea on the prize packages at our tournaments. Cash payout is dependant on the number of entries. First places includes a new Ascend kayak from Bass Pro Shops (FS12T, i believe)
Fish24/7 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 good luck man ,catch some big ones! Moswimb8slinger 1
Champ188 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Do you guys have flags or something to make yourselves very visible? There's a BFL derby that day with 150 or more boats coming out of Kimberling City, and there will certainly be others launching from elsewhere. Donna will assure you that I'm an extremely careful and safe boat driver who runs full throttle sparingly. But there are others out there who are practically opposite. Just concerns me that someone might get hurt. Moswimb8slinger 1
96 CHAMP Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Champ, just wanted to tell you i will be at shell knob this weekend, be in a blue and white champ, with a 150 mercury on back, if you see me and have a second, stop and say hello, i will be on look out for you also, no telling where either of us will end up , just thought i would throw this out there,if not will see you on the 2nd, Good fishing to you, Steve Champ188 1
Moswimb8slinger Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 I have a flag and a loud a** air horn that i carry. Most of them will stay in the Jake's Creek area. We have a Regatta permit for the event, so in case there's an issue we can have Water Patrol take care of it Champ188 1
jtram Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 How was the mo-yak turnout at LOZ? The opener was too far of a drive for this guy.
Moswimb8slinger Posted April 11, 2015 Author Posted April 11, 2015 slow, cold and mostly chocolate milk for water clarity. We had 15 anglers, half the field blanked, and the 1st place winner was the only guy with 5 bass. big bass was over 21 inches long, and from a video of it, looked to be 4.5- 4.75lbs. i almost got swamped by a spoonbill out in the Niangua channel and my kayak fell off the truck rack on the way to the park, the morning of the tournament (bad strap placement and a hard turn, minor scratches and 2 broken paddle clips). i still managed to catch some fish and get some AOY points, i finished 8th. Members swb311 Posted April 12, 2015 Members Posted April 12, 2015 Some of us in OK were considering the MO-YAK tournaments, but they appear to only be 20-30% payout.
Moswimb8slinger Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 This is our first year for the tournament. We are non profit but some expenses need to be covered such as banners, building supplies for displays, etc. 10% goes to the Angler of the Year and "Classic" purse, 30% is paid out at the tournaments to the top 3, for now, depending on the number of entries. That can change with the increased number of entries (top 5, top 10, etc). And a portion of entries also goes into a charity fund, and the charity is to be announced As a first year tournament series, we haven't acquired any cash contributions from sponsors to cover logistics and tournament payouts. But also consider we awarded prizes to the top 5 of 15 anglers, of which, first place prize package was worth $950 and includes a brand new Ascend FS12T from Bass Pro Shops.
