Seemed really windy for a top water, but I did see some fish busting top further south on the lake yesterday while checking out the boat. Guess I have a mental block about when to throw a top water.

Some of my best days with top water baits have come when the chop was bordering on white caps. When it's like that use a super spook or my top dollars - something that moves a lot of water.

I have hit 8lb largemouths on pencil poppers when I thought I was throwing to stripers, but just don't think about it when I am chasing bass. Funny how my biggest largemouth have been disappointments since I wanted a 30lb striper instead. I need to break out those big top waters more often, I love to drag a big pencil popper behind the boat while moving around, I have seen them get knocked 20 feet into the air, but for some reason it just comes to mind on a calm day or early morning.

Can spectators launch out of prairie creek today, or does the FLW have it tied up?

I believe there is only 10 pros fishing today and if 10 pros plus media boats have it tied all up I would bet there will be a ton of complaints so I would say go and see, worse case you would have to go to 12 bridge to launch.

Me im thinking about hitting the lake at 4pm tonight and give some late afternoon evening walleye fishing a shot my guts tingling and I listen to it, unless its raining then I will stay home and watch tv.

FF,

You mentioned the 12 boat ramp has an obstacle in the center? Don't want to bang up the new boat

More like a hole than obstacle lol. When they built the two ramps they must have been low on funds because they didn't pour between them.

Saw a skiboat trailer back down in a hurry and completely jacknife the trailer. Then he pulled up and then backed down diagonally straddling the two ramps. Evidently he was mas well before all this occured. I had to laugh. :-)
