Seems like folsk got you covered. I'm a big Rapala fan and would have included the ones already discussed, the original floating (F9 or F11), the husky jerk, and the X-rap.

i was a bit apprehensive because of the price but i have heard many people say they are worth the price so i may pick up a couple. The Jackall Squad Minnows look really good and the price on those aren't as bad so i might grab a few of them as well.

I'm cheap so I buy the Luck E Strike RC STX jerkbaits. I've used them side by side with Megabass jerkbaits and honestly couldn't tell much difference. Both baits caught fish and neither out fished the other considerably. I've also used the stock hooks and rings on them and never had an issue.

The good thing about jerkbaiting is that you shouldn't lose too many baits to hang ups which should make spending $25 on a bait a little bit easier to handle.

i thought about trying some of the lucky craft pointers as well. Ill check out the RC STX baits. I have a few of the RC squarebills and they've been ok for the money.

A couple of years ago I had a Lucky craft bait that was jointed almost the entire length of the bait. The current Lucky craft live pointer doesn't have as many joints as I remember on this other bait. The swimming motion was fantastic, but I lost it on a root wad in about 6' of water. Anyone recognize that bait or was it really just the Live pointer?

I know the exact bait you're speaking of! I think its the lucky craft live pointer sp? I've seen these up at bass pro and they look pretty sweet.

I've got a few of those. Picked them up on ebay when I was buying every jerkbait in sight to try and find the magic one for trout. They have a great action.

In the warmer months I'm prone to use a fluke more than a jerkbait. I only throw suspending jerkbaits for trout or in the cold months for bass. Though I will fish them some next week for specks.

I found that the swimming action of that bait helped a couple of trout over the investigation phase to I got to eat that bait before it gets away. As I mentioned, it swam too close to the cover and I didn't recover the bait. Water was only 46 deg at the time.
