rps Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Took my repaired boat out to try out the electronics. Wow. After a time setting up the Lowrance I threw the crank bait for a bit and caught one keeper. Then, when I tried to crank the big motor, nothing. I love how cranking batteries decide to give up only when you are out and away from the marina.

rps Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 Seems like a few people owe you a tow or two. Glad to see you post! My theory on break downs is always help others and never expect help. That way I never lose my temper and I feel good about myself. Wolfe Marine did a good job making up for the transducer faux pas. They installed the new transducer and compensated me for the cost of the new transducer. They also sincerely apologized. I did not tell them to load test the batteries (my bad) and today was the classic first warm day discloses the battery fail. Tomorrow will be a Cabelas and Sams day instead of a fishing day. huntest 1
techo Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I still cruise the board, just don't fish enough to add much. Taking a week off in a few to live in the Skeeter again. See you in Aunts Creek! Staying tuned for wrench's response. Tim Carpenter
garyw Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 motor turned off, batt should read 12-12.5 volts motor running should read 14-15 volts. if it's like my motorcycle.

When running voltage should be 12.8-14v, and shouldn't ever go over 14.5. If you are only showing low-mid-12's while running then the battery may be getting tired, or it could be low on water. If voltage ever drops into the -10v range while cranking or operating the tilt/trim then it is probably time to buy a fresh battery. techo 1
