Hey, any fool can catch them on a lure they buy at Walmart. To catch them on something you made yourself, that takes skill :)

I agree totally Al, I'm more of just a modifier than a designer but, I love it. A couple of friends of ours Mitch F and MOSMALLIE'S design and make lures and I am very lucky as I am a benefactor and get lures from them to try. I would recommend to anyone to try Mitch's craws and or jigheads they are stupid good and Paul makes a Buzz bait that has a swinging head, it's a killer bait as well. Mitch and Paul use some high grade components and their lures work really well.....I had something that looked like a porpoise wake a Swing Kong buzz the other evening at Des Peres park....just about crapped my self

Some of my best flies are patterns I made up and when I tell people they work and try to sell them no one will buy them, most lures and flies are made more for the fishermen than the fish. The uglier the lure the more I enjoy catching fish on it.

I can sure see that. Everybody's got their favorite, then there's the hot fly they read about before they headed down to the river.

I've always enjoyed making my own lures, rods and flies. I have a patent on a fly/lure called the Desperate Diver that I made and marketed for over a decade. It was even featured in Bassmaster Magazine. And some years ago, I came up with a Flair Hair Jig, which won big tournaments on KY Lake and catches smallmouth in streams well, but like Justin said, it doesn't look like everything else out there. I've said for years that color catches the fishermen, action catches the fish, but everyone keeps buying the latest and greatest paint jobs.
