Here it comes again, this should set a record in the number of times the flood gates open. How much can Table Rock take right now?

After more than a week of 4 gates, we were down to 918.5. It has already started to climb and right now it's raining hard here. The last two flood years the lake peaked at 930 and 934. I don't think the corps ever wants to see 934 again.

The real key in all of this is down stream - how much more can Bull Shoals hold and what are the farm conditions in the delta. If the corps can open BS without flooding farmers there is a much greater leeway. If they need to protect the corporate farmers, they will hold BS water and we have a limit on what can be filled.

Edit: I just checked BS levels. The flood pool top is listed as 695 and the current lake level is 686, so some room exists. I will note the site says normal for July at BS is 661 feet.

I am just hoping the ramps are still usable Thursday morning to pull the boat out.

Looking at the level of the tail waters, 926, I am guessing the flood gates are open again. Has anyone seen for themselves?

3rd time this year, right?

Yes, I wonder how many years they have opened this many times? None that I can remember, but I have only been here since 2001.

I was wondering what the record was for latest flood gate opening. July 9th seems way late.

We've reached critical mass. The system can only withstand so much.
