Fish24/7 Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 never heard of Hank's gap MIke where/what is it?
Fish24/7 Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Fished this weekend up the Theodosia arm in between the rain and boat traffic. The road to the marina and the ramp north of the bridge provide good access to the water but with limited parking. Most of the core park in Theodosia is completely under water, but it made for good fun for folks wanting to swim on/through the playground equipment and shelters. There is some wood floating, but with any wind the lake is clean enough to boat if you are careful. Not much luck on bass, other than a few here and there on topwater and ned. Fish looked to be concentrated about 20-25' deep right above the thermocline. I also tried grubs, shakey head, drop shot, trolling/casting cranks but nothing happening. Did have some follow the bait to the boat and watch it while I tried to get them to bite - frustrating. Did manage to put together a crappie pattern with minnows on Saturday that got us a 1/2 dozen keepers to make a couple meals out of. That and the one gar my wife caught made for a decent weekend. well, the ramp north of the bridge is closed as of yesterday, the road to the marina is now the parking area and it's a tight squeeze for bigger trucks when it's busy Very little room for trailer parking.along the rock wall the walkway to the marina will probably be on that road by middle next week
Members Bullshoalscat Posted July 12, 2015 Members Posted July 12, 2015 Hanks Gap is point 16 cove, Should be real close to being able to shoot the gap!
Mike Worley Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Went though the gap yesterday, with plenty of depth. Lake level was 691' (691.9' as of 0700 this morning) Lots of bank trash and some pretty big logs floating all over the lake. Launched at dam site where the courtesy dock required a knee deep wade. Guess the attendant had the day off. We found the bite to be pretty tough. Early morning trolling crank baits 35' deep seems to be whats most consistent. Edge of the brush line was about 37'.
Mike Worley Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 never heard of Hank's gap MIke where/what is it? It's a low spot in chimney bluff that when flooded allows you to cut though (Jones point WMA) to point 16 cuts off several miles of distance. Fish24/7 1
