J-Doc Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Be aware of your surroundings Be respectful of other boaters Don't fly past another boater, they may turn into your path because they are unaware of your course or your very existance Don't wake another boat not on plane and under power or heading Drive on the defensive, not the offensive And for the love of all things fishing...... If boating at night or even before sunrise/sunset TURN ON YOUR LIGHTS!!!! If you're night fishing, sitting on a main lake point, channel, hump, etc. with your lights off, you're a fool. Use your head and be safe. It's not worth the alternative. This couple leaves two young girls behind. Respect other boaters and give them some room. http://wired2fish.scout.com/story/1546123-husband-wife-killed-in-bass-boat-crash?s=537 Need marine repair? fishinwrench Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 On this lake we have Water Patrol sitting out there with no lights on. Hit one of them and see who's fault it becomes.
J-Doc Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 If they are trying to catch people, more power to them as long as they are not sitting in middle of the channel. We need patrol down here bad. When they are around, they will wake you, or just do nothing. Had Water Patrol wake me 2 weeks ago while I was trolling on a main lake point. Drive right over my lines... I respect the water patrol, rangers, sherriff, etc. But they need to enforce the law more on this lake. Way too loose. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. Tanderson15 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I just can not see how that happens. If only one of the boats was paying attention it would not have happened, especially in daylight. Some people should not drive a car, a boat, have a pet nor a kid, nor allowed to vote. There are a lot of people that are plain right stupid.
Old plug Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 What water patrol?????? I have only seen one since the Ellison thing.
Guest Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 The people that need to read this, won't do it. They already know everything. I've seen plenty of assholes at beaver, boaters, skiers, bass boats, you name it. Had another bass boat blow past me while I was idling a no wake area. He got too close. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Tanderson15 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Same as Trophy. Beaver is getting as bad as Oz and TR. that is why I never fish wk ends nor holiday wks
JohnF52 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I got waked a couple times today by a Survey Crew boat. I think it said Lakemaster on it.
fishinwrench Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 What water patrol?????? I have only seen one since the Ellison thing.Oh they were out in a big way 2 weekends ago, doing "safety checks" and testing all the big boats for noise levels (their newest favorite thing to do). They don't nitpick fishing boats much at all, leaving that to the MDC agents in their new incognito green/white open bow ski boat I assume. It's a V6 Mercruiser I/O though....they won't catch any bass boats in that thing, so I assume they are just looking for folks fishing off their docks. How many license violations do you reckon it takes to pay for a couple of weak ski boats and 4 guys wages ? Sounds like a loosing proposition to me.
