Was out at daylight along with quite a few others fishing. Lots of boats in areas I wanted to hit. Then about 10AM the pleasure boats made it out. Caught about 18 total with 6 keepers. Got a couple in Kimberling area then merged onto the interstate and made it down to Spring Branch....barely. Felt like Frogger trying to make it across the lake...and it was Monday. I can't imagine how it would be on a Saturday with good weather.

nice bass. i agree with you that the barge traffic is insane. take a look at all the docks they keep allowing to be built and look at what kind of boats are filling them up. it will get worse.

the other really scary part is that a big percent of these vessels do not have anyone really qualified to be operating that craft. there is so much boat traffic on the lake now, that you really need just as good of driving skills and knowledge an anyone driving a car on the highway. and, we have not even started on whether they can safely navigate the water, meaning not crossing over submerged timber, shallow bars, ect.

I agree about the inexperienced boaters. What gets me frustrated is the number of recreational boaters during the summer who are on the main lake or at the mouth of coves and just drift along. Many a time i have come out of a cove or around a bend and there are 4 or 5 boats just drifting in the main lake. Some of the people are actually floating in the water tethered to their boat so it doesn't float away and are clueless that they might pose a problem.

My plan this year is to fish more often in the evening until after dark during the summer.

By the way, nice pics. any details on the lures?

Yeah...and I'm always am stunned at the dummy who pulls a tube or skier down the main lake with all that traffic behind them....just plain dumb. While I was in Spring Branch, there were wake boarders jumping 10 feet in the air and crashing back down. The boats were 75 feet off the bank...right in that standing timber zone. They have no clue as to what beneath them.

Saturday I fished flat creek area and there was a family in a 70k ski boat and kept skiing over sunken bridge pilers and gravel bar with only about 2ft of water over it, there very lucky no one was hurt.

I was out fishing in the KC area Monday morning. The big boat traffic was off the chart busy. Found a decent number of deep fish on a main lake runout in 50 FOW. Just starting to get them going and in about an hour just couldn't stay on them and fish properly with the waves. Several battle ships passed between us and the bank within casting distance. I think we need mandatory boat driver water safety certification or something!

Nice report and pics alltel. We caught them with the little rig shallow, swim baits, spoons and grubs deep.

Actually there is a required certification to drive a boat in Missouri. Only have to get it if born after a certain year, and I don't know what that date is, but am sure there are many people who have no clue they are supposed to have it. It's all done online though and can open a couple tabs online and look up all the answers to the test questions...I was just lucky to have someone truly teach me how to properly drive a boat safely in addition to the certification

I am familiar with the certification for younger boat drivers, it is required in Arkansas as well. Most of what I see is people above the required age group for certification. They just don't care to exercise common courtesy and safety in how close and the speed at which they drive by. It seems to be the same whether on the main lake, in a creek or large pocket. Most of this is just rude I own the water attitude and don't give a s*** about anyone but me.
