Members nymphermaniac Posted May 27, 2015 Members Posted May 27, 2015 Anyone seeing or hearing any cicadas? There is supposed to be a brood hatching but I don't know if it will reach the Current. Have really enjoyed fishing them in the past. Thanks in advance for any response.
Nortrad Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Been hoping for that too. Looks like they're too far east and south. 11 Pt. maybe?
Gavin Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I don't think they are going to be out in abundance in the Ozarks this year... Mostly in Illinois, and the KC area from the brood maps. Didn't see our hear any near Licking last weekend.
brittsnbirds Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Have a truck load up here around KCMO. Pretty small in comparison to the others I've seen. Very pretty red/orange.
Greasy B Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Southern Illinois is full of them. Yeah, they appear to be thick in some areas and not so thick in others areas. I didn't see a single one hit the water but the fish were look up anyway. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
Al Agnew Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 They are spotty in Ste. Genevieve County...none around my house but thick near Hawn Park, three miles away.
brittsnbirds Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Fingers are crossed they get down south. Then I'll have to make an excuse to go!!
moguy1973 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 There are 2 broods coming out this year. The first one (Brood XXIII) is happening in SE MO and Southern IL right now and is a 13 year brood. The other is a 17 year brood (Brood IV) and will be coming out later this spring in extreme SW MO, mostly in eastern KS though. http://www.magicicada.org/about/brood_pages/broods.php I remember the brood that came out in St Louis in 2011. That was crazy how many there were. They were coming down our chimneys into the house and you could hardly go outside without getting dive bombed. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
jdmidwest Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 They are buzzing good here in SE MO. For some reason, they were strong on Sat., but quiet on Sun and Mon. The noise picked up here today.
