Do you guys lose sensitivity going from 4# to 2# line? I feel like I have a much harder time detecting bites with 2# than 4# so I usually just stick with 4# and tie on a leader of 2# fluorocarbon if need be.

Seth - when I switch down to 2# I am typically fishing in water that is clear enough to see the reaction of the fish. I will set the hook even before I feel the take.

At the trout parks, I can sight fish and do the dame as you mention. What I was referring to is when I am on Taney and fishing a lot deeper where I can't see the bait as well or at all.

Just bought a Pflueger President spinning reel and a "Lilley's Landing" rod from Phil over the weekend and he put 4# line on it. Not sure what the rod is, but it is a great set up! Great action in the rod and the Plueger President is very smooth.

I can't say I notice any loss of sensitivity with the 2Lb Maxima. But that is with the Lilleys LT600 rod. With the Microlite rods I don't have quite the same sensitive feel. Not so much on strikes, I still feel them, but on feeling my smaller (3/32oz) jigs when they touch the bottom. If I use 1/8 ounce, and bigger I can feel the bottom with them on the less sensitive rods.

How much will a Lilleys LT600 set you back? How does it compare to the St Croix?

Don't remember exactly, somewhere around a few pennies less than seventy bucks. Phil can correct me if I am wrong. Don't know anything about St Croix, just know the Lilleys rod is a great jig rod!
