Walleyedmike Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Was fortunate enought to spend a bit of time in the afternoon of May 31 and June 1 fishing for some walleye at Stockton Lake. Caught a mixed bag including 20 or so walleye, however only four keepers. Trolling crank baits was by far the most productive method. I was using lead core line, but it really isn't necessary as most were caught in 15' or less water. Gonna spend a couple of hours of C&R fishing tomorrow morning before I head home. Members terryjones Posted June 2, 2015 Members Posted June 2, 2015 sounds like a great trip.nice to hear the eyes are biting.thanks for the info.
Members Kdub Posted June 2, 2015 Members Posted June 2, 2015 Thanks for the report. I have been trying to learn to target Walleye lately. Guess I need to get some crank baits. I see people talking about Flicker Shad on here a lot. Is that what you would recommend?
Boobie Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Just returned home monday am with son. No luck bottom bouncing but didnt spend a ton of time trying. Fished grubs in 10 to 20 ft of water in diff locations. Caught plenty of bass, walleye. crappie, but only a few keeper walleye.(Dont keep bass, they are kind of stinkey). Some really nice crappie. Strange thing, caught walleye in the very back of pockets in 4 ft of water. Lots of them. Only managed a few keepers but it was fun for him on his first trip to Stockton. Sac River Jim 1
Boobie Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 WM, A word of thanks on the info,we stayed in the ruark area because of the rain. Thanks again,BOB
Walleyedmike Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Fished for an hour and a half this morning before we headed for home. Trolled flicker shads and picked up four walleye with two keepers and several nice crappie. All were released to fight again. Had a fun morning and a good trip. Fishing reports just suck with no pics, I'll try to pull a couple from my phone tomorrow. Gotta shout out to Sugarfoot Barbeque in Osceola, ate there Saturday night and the Mexican restraunt in downtown El Dorado Springs (El Dorado Cantina??), had lunch there today on the way home. Great food at both places, highly recommended by walleyedmike! Boobie, those locations I gave you didn't produce much for me this trip, either. Sorry I lead you astray, the lake changes a lot in a couple of weeks. Glad you found a few! Kdub, Flicker shads are a great trolling bait I usually try them first every time. My favorite colors are purple tiger and chartruse pearle (i think??) size 7. I also use jointed walley divers and occasionally shad raps. WM Sac River Jim 1
Members Kdub Posted June 3, 2015 Members Posted June 3, 2015 Thank you WM. I checked them out online and they are kinda expensive. I will get some but don't want to lose to many. ? Fishn' Addict 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 i used them a lot last year, a few walleye and some giant crappie. I like the shads better, although i do like to have one flicker minnow tied on when trolling
Members Saltydawg Posted June 3, 2015 Members Posted June 3, 2015 Does anybody have experience with the Berkely Smash Shads ? I picked a few up at Walmart. Seems like a decent bait for 5 bucks ?
