DADAKOTA Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 While cleaning a few Stockton crappie last week I noticed bloody looking spots on a few of the fillets. I saw no worms or other parasites and the spots were easy to cut out. Any idea what I was seeing? Wish I'd of taken a picture.
Dutch Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Nope but I saw some of the same last month when I cleaned some.
straw hat Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Were there any external wounds to match those spots or were they evident on the inside only?
Dutch Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 As I remember there was evidence on the outside of the ones I had.
Boobie Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Speaking of gigging, I saw a wicked gigging boat in the ruark area this past weekend with 20 lights on it. Any ideas? Sac River Jim 1

Members basscatfan Posted June 3, 2015 Members Posted June 3, 2015 I've seen this lots of times. It's when the fish is dropped or banged off the side of the live well when it's dropped in. It bruises the meat and leaves the bloody spots on the filets.
