Looks like most accidents where life is lost are preventable. Now this is the 2nd weekend in a row a motor boat wants to come blasting by me on the river below Beaver. Very simply from Houseman Access to Beaver Dam is a NO WAKE ZONE. Let alone there are families and beginers floating the river for you to swamp. If a boat is anchored along the bank fishing, slow down!

I will start videoing these people and see what I can do with it.

This not the Dam Store posting.

Its me and I would love to visit the people I wave at.

No it is not marked. Just written in the book. So this requires reading. All they need to do as far as I am concerned just don't wash everyone on the river out with their wake.

Description The Beaver Lake Tailwater was created when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Beaver Dam in 1966. The water flowing from the base of the dam was too cold to support the native smallmouth bass and sunfish population, so trout were introduced to restore the fishery. Often overshadowed by the Bull Shoals and Norfork Tailwaters, the Beaver Tailwater provides excellent trout angling opportunity and supports a thriving tourism industry. Paddlefish also provide some excellent action below Beaver Dam during paddlefish snagging season.

The Boating Guide book states

Improper Speed or Distance is not maintaining a proper speed or distance while operating a motorboat.

Specifically, it is illegal to operate a motorboat:

  • In a manner or at a speed that exceeds the safe and reasonable limits under existing circumstances
  • At greater than slow-no wake speed (5 mph) in any posted no wake zone
  • At a rate of speed that creates a hazardous wash or wake on approaching or passing vessels; for example a wake that causes other vessels to take on water or a wake sufficient to toss occupants of other vessels about in a manner to cause injury or the risk of injury
  • At greater than no wake speed (5 mph) within 100 feet of a designated recreation area, dock, pier, raft, float, anchored vessel, dam, intake structure, or other obstruction, unless a different speed limit has been established in the area

What book are you referring to?

If memory serves me right it is in the AGFC trout rules book. Possibly the Beaver Tail water section. They do not make it easy to find things. I'm not at work till Thursday and don't have a book here.

If you have to know the secret handshake to be told that it is No Wake, then I'm not surprised that people don't treat it like No Wake water. Regardless of the No Wake status, people should exercise common sense, slow down when you need to do so for whatever reason.

However, if you try to play checkers on the interstate, don't be surprised when an 18 wheeler runs over your checkerboard. Ie you some sense where you try to stop and fish.

I have seen the "no wake" on beaver tw before, but it has been a while.....

Someone told me it was no wake once. It was a few years ago when it was backed up from table rock and I took my jet boat to the top of the C&R area from Houseman...or maybe below Houseman. I was running wide open through the bottom of the catch and release (no one was around) headed towards Parker. I came off plane well upstream of a guy who had waded out into Parker and I was going true idle. He waived me over and told me it was no wake. He was polite and I wasn't running through his water, but he told me the whole thing was no wake. I've never seen anything to confirm as far as I know. I think I posted about it in this forum.
