What does one run and how soon could you get to it ? 98 225 efi mercury How bad is the damage? May be faster and less expensive to repair yours. A reman unit will possibly be a less reliable and more expensive choice. Gimme a call if you'd like. 573-569-5406
Members elite203 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Members Posted July 4, 2015 Hit a log, drove another mile and then the rpms shot up and I shut the key off. I cant put it into gear anymore or reverse.
fishinwrench Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 Nothing blown out the side of the housing and/or no extensive skeg or cav plate damage? If not I'd open it up and inspect the actual damage. Buying a reman lower unit just means you're buying a repaired gearcase that likely suffered the same (or worse) damage as yours did ...for twice the price. Sometimes you have a choice, other times not. Only way to tell is to inspect it and see.
Members elite203 Posted July 4, 2015 Author Members Posted July 4, 2015 No visible damage. So I know thst is hard to prove to insurance.
