gotmuddy Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Me and a friend are motoring up the buffalo from buffalo city in the morning. The river should be just about perfect. Report hopefully to follow everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Ham Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I really look forward to seeing your report. The photos I have seen show pretty dingy water which is not my preference to fish. Just in case, bring some dark colored soft plastics and fish them close to current breaks. Fish them slowly. Give fish time to find them. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. gotmuddy Posted July 18, 2015 Author Posted July 18, 2015 fishing was pretty poor, with only 5 smallmouth caught in 3 hours, however one was around 18" water was still dingy, and much faster than I would like. River was at 1600cfm, I prefer 600-800 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Ham Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Nice fish though. At this point, I would swap some numbers for better size. Maybe I should throw 9 inch swim baits. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
gotmuddy Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 he was using a natural craw wiggle wart. I caught all mine on a phantom craw wiggle wart. water was moving just too fast for much else. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Ham Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I really like low water. Its more work, but it makes the catching so much easier. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
hoglaw Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Ham and muddy, let me know when yall want to come to nwa. Got beds for you and we can float at the house. Caught over 50 yesterday with 16" being the biggest. But I caught an 18" on thursday. Ham 1
Mark Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Question: I see the river is at 655 cfs (or 6.65 ft) at Harriet. If we were staying at White Buffalo Resort, how far up the Buffalo could we go in a boat? Jet prop? Jonboat rented from resort??

Al Agnew Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Yep, the horsepower limit keeps the jets off it. And there is a difficult rock shoal just a mile or so above the mouth that stops a lot of prop boats unless the river is pretty full. I suspect that guys still run jets up it occasionally, though, even though it's illegal.
