jtram Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Saw way too many kids on the river Saturday, wrong environment IMO, but to top it off, the people with the kids were the ones who were most clueless. Saw more families flip their boats than drunks.
Gavin Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 The ones I can't stand are the folks who tie boats together, and those who tie kids in PFD's to boats. Have helped a few folks out of a river jam so far this year. Usually tell them to walk it if scared on the next dicey spot and never tie your kid to a canoe or raft. ollie 1
Danimal Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Was there enough water flowing over the dam to cause a strong recirculating hydraulic, and if so -- are there signs warning of it? RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
ollie Posted July 21, 2015 Author Posted July 21, 2015 Yes the flow was enough to cause a hydraulic and the one who died got caught in it. I'm surprised they both made it out on the dam without being swept over. I know there is a cable across the river so many feet ahead of the dam warning boats, but I'm pretty sure there aren't signs that say, "No jumping from dam". "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
