Pepe Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Is it illegal to land a float plane on a COE lake? I'm wondering why I've never seen one. Clearly there are some folks with homes in the area who have serious coin. I don't see any FAA restrictions that would prohibit this.
MOPanfisher Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I believe there are restrictions in Title 36 CFR. An area must be designated. My minimal exposure to the topic basically said that the COE wouldn't designate an area unless the MSHP was in support. On a busy lake like TR I doubt that they would support a designated area. Correction: a quick search located the seaplane pilot assn. Or something close to that. Can click on state of MO and get a list of lakes and restrictions. Will see if I am smart enough to put a link in here. http://www.seaplanes.org/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=122&Itemid=235&page=inc-waterways&waterwayID=1028&waterwayName=Table%20Rock%20Lake&state=MO
bfishn Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Great reference, thanks! It's been done, but this one back in '12 didn't make it. http://archive.news-leader.com/article/20120314/NEWS01/303140055/Table%20Rock%20Lake%20plane%20crash%20one%20dead I can't dance like I used to.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 i saw one land right in front of the white river fish house while i was fishing one day about 8 years ago. It looked like a home made thing that most would never even think of getting in
hoglaw Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I saw one on the white too, but it had already landed and was parked on a gravel bar. I saw it at the end of my float down the lower buffalo. Wonder if it was the same plane? It was pretty small. Cool way to hop to a riffle though.
