Much better day today. Fished from 12:30 to close to 3. Water temp was low 80's. Overcast, then rain and then sunshine. Awesome weather. Pulled Bandits 300, Arkie 350, and one Flicker Shad that I have. Caught 5 crappie and two nice catfish. Everything I caught came off the one Flicker Shad I own. It was set at150 feet of line out the side of the boat at a speed ranging around 1.5 to 2 mph in 25-30 feet of water. I trolled back and fourth over a big flat or the edge of the flat and the river channel. It amazed me that they only would hit the Flicker. I had some 300's and Arkie's colors that looked a lot like the pearl color I was using but never got a bite on any of the other lures. No telling how the day would of went if I had few more of those. Plus less wasted clusters. Here's a few pictures of the fish.

Wow! There are still crappies in Beaver. Haven't seen one since May. And they seem hungry! I've tried to drag 4 different lures and it usually seems they like one over all the others. Lately the flicker mono has been hit more than the flicker shad but really too small a quantity to make a judgement. Good for you with some good eating' fish.

Good job lance.  I've never caught a catfish on a crank bait....

Striper season is around the corner for me. Hopefully we can meet up again and go after them big dudes.

Thanks Danny,

We are for sure going after them dudes again this year!

Some days, the fish will hit one color and won't touch the other.  I've made it a habit to use select colors based on history and location.  One bait will outperform the other.  Only the fish can tell you why.  I think some will dive deeper than others, color must make a difference but I suspect its due to the type of flash it creates more so than the color itself, and some days.......you can beat them in the head with a "bama rig" and they won't bite.  I never troll a bama rig although I have before.  I just don't feel like taking my wallet out and throwing it in the water. :-/

Definitely some nice crappie.  Been a while myself since I caught any.  They disappeared on me this year and when I do find some, they won't bite for me.  At all.  Not even on night crawlers or spoons.  Uncooperative little boogers.

Pretty much the same as last week.  I went back to the same flat.  Except this time the Catfish where bigger and the fish where more over the flat in 25 feet of water and not the edge.
2 catfish, 2 fat spots, 5 crappie and I lost something at the boat that kept diving back down under the boat every time I tried to bring it to the surface.
Them 12 foot rods make for some fun times when you get a good decent size fighting fish on.
Pulled black/silver and pearl flicker shads out the side 130-150 feet back.
Here's a pic of the cat.  And no I did not beat it to death with the wrench or the net.  Them hooks did a number on it.

Man even the catfish are getting fat lately.  Most of the fish are gorging on the bait right now.
