trizkid Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Two buddies and I are heading down 2nd weekend in Oct, staying at reeds and fishing out side of the park. We are thinking about trying parker out for the first time, as we have fished baptist, tan vat, and from line down many many times. Hows the water down that way, is there a good amount of runs or holes to fish? We drove down once, but didn't get to fish it. Thanks guys any suggestions or other access that may be good this time of the year would be great. As always we C&R and just out for some time away. TrIzzout
stlfisher Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Was down last weekend. It was tough IMO. Sunday am hatch saved the weekend, but it was the toughest I can ever remember it. Water is very low and clear. No pattern I could really find, except olive. Hopefully, you will get some rain before your trip...that should get them moving a bit.
joeD Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Parker is no different, it's still the upper Current. Hope for rain. A lot of rain. Otherwise, good luck. Low, clear, sunny, busy...should be perfect for not catching fish. Plus, as a bonus, the browns might be trying to spawn, running away in pairs at the first hint of a boot. Have fun!
awhuber Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Caught several of these today. Water is low. They shocked Tan Vat to Baptist again today. The boys said they measured a 5plus # Brown. The leaves are really starting to fall now. The smb also were biting.
Kayser Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Big hatch of #16 PED and #16/18 caddis last Friday, only fished for the last hour of light.Got 3 browns on a #14 orange humpy, saw some big fish rise here and there, but not much else coming up. Fun time, didn't try nymphs. They shocked Tan Vat to Baptist again today. The boys said they measured a 5plus # Brown. Only one? That's disappointing. Used to be a bunch. And if they're truly moving up for the run, then there should be more big boys in that stretch. Maybe I'll stick it out in the deer stand this coming week and fish after I get a deer. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Gavin Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Thanks for the report. Guess the smallies moved out of Ashley for the winter. Hoppers, beetles, and ant patterns usually work well this time of year. Toss them under the bushes, under overhanging trees, and bounce them off the bluff faces. Trico's and itty bitties too.
joeD Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 The big browns are waiting for a big guy to throw big lures so they can eat a substantial meal of plastic and treble hooks. This will hopefully occur in January or February, if, and I mean IF, we get some rain to increase the flow and level. Meantime, I surely do appreciate your little trout pictures. They sure are pretty.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Joe, joe, joe..... You just can't help it, can you? They're all big fish. Pete
Gavin Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Something to be said about the nine point streamer. Gotta know why they work, when, where, and how to be successful with them though. It's not casual fishing where you get on the water at ten and pound up a few dinks on dryer lint lashed to a hook, but that is fun too;)! snagged in outlet 3 1
trizkid Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Thanks guys for the comments, regardless how many fish or how big, a bad day out there beats any day here at work. Gavin I am def going to try some terrestrials up on top, thinking with being so low and clear opposite bank with a terrestrial might be one of our best bets in certain areas. We shall see, I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks as always! awhuber 1 TrIzzout
