JohnP Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Very few birds today compared to yesterday, I had my chance to limit but could only manage 4. Flock of 15 in the dekes at 0730, jump em up, 3 shots 3 down. Didn't see another bird til almost 1000 when I was getting gear together to leave and had already taken pics of the first 3 when 3 buzz over me while i was putting the camera in the bag. Picked up the gun and dropped one and couldn't connect on the other 2 as they swang back thru for a second look. Great morning to be out with the yella dawg. This may have been my last teal hunt of the season as I got to go back to work tomorrow afternoon but then again I may take the black dawg out since I've neglected her by taking yella pup recently; ). BilletHead Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Great pictures John P. The contrasting colors in that last one especially! BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" BilletHead " One thing in life is for sure. If you are careful you can straddle the barbed wire fence but make one mistake and you will be hurting" BilletHead P.S. "May your fences be short or hope you have long legs" BilletHead
Jerry Rapp Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 why don't you take both dogs with you?
JohnP Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks BH. Alot of that is using the filters on instagram. But on the flip side of that I have been superseded at the number of mature bwt I've shot this year. Usually shoot mostly juveniles that are smaller and haven't developed much on the wing spectrums. Be nice if the males would stick around long enough to plume out while here. Think the bwt and gwt drakes are some of the best looking when fully plumed. BilletHead 1
JohnP Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 The black dawg has just come out of heat and still maybe pushing it alil if I was to take her out, just not wanting to push my luck and patience of the pup being distracted by the black dawgs essence she putting off
Jerry Rapp Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 thanks for the answer John. Good reason. I enjoy your guys hunting posts. I don't hunt anymore, but did hunt back in the late 60's and early 70's when dad had bird dogs and Pa took me rabbit hunting. Then the birds disappeared and I realized if the weather was o.k. to hunt, I could go fishing. JohnP and BilletHead 2
