crittermo Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 does anyone have any suggestions for bass in the northshore/gravois area? i had a little luck this morning with a firetiger trap and a buzzbait from midway to the backs of the coves but then everything stopped this afternoon. thanks
WeekendWarrior Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I haven't been out since the big bass bash but there was a good morning bite till around 9 or so and then it is a grind fishing with bottom baits in and around docks and if in the wrong area its a grind all day. I would go to piles that are 3/4 way back in coves that are in the 2 to 10 foot range. I haven't been able to find a top water bite. I hear fishing up the river past hurricane deck bridge is good now.
fishinwrench Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I got sidetracked chasing white bass this week but before that happened jigs, a buzzbait, and a Redeye shad was doing well for me in 5' or less. Bites on the jig were strictly on the fall and near the outer ends of docks. The Redeye bites were right off the shallow rocky banks. Buzzbait bites were around little pockets along the bank or around any shallow cover. Ends of seawalls and concrete boat ramps were almost a guarantee. The thing that all three of those presentations has in common is they are all targeting reflex type bites. Don't give the fish time to look a bait over good, put them in a position to either hurry up and eat it.....or let it get away.
96 CHAMP Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 What is the water temp at the lake now wrench if you would
Old plug Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Depends on where you are and type and time of day. Figure mid 70's at trolling motor depth.
fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Right, I'm seeing 73-76. I would like to see us get an inch or two of nice cool rain.
Old plug Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Me too wrench. I think some part of the problem is stagnation. Seems all the fish on my jigging high spots are very deep around the spots themselves. I think I see more of that when there is stagnantion
fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Problem ? I hadn't realized that there was a problem I just want some more color in the water to put them on a wicked buzzbait bite.

fishinwrench Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 want more color in water come down this way Is that an invitation ? Let's do an afternoon in your area, then an afternoon in mine......then discuss the comparison over a cold beer or two. Wanna ?
