m&m Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Finally we were able to get on the water for a few hours Saturday morning from 8-11:30am. We fished the first cove inside Jacques Creek before Rock Lane Marina. Water was 72 with good color and nice ripple on the water from the wind. Only caught 10 fish but 5 were keepers. Kind of a mixed bag. My friend caught his first walleye and it was 23" so he was very happy. We had 2 keeper small mouth on sq bill shad color crank bait, a keeper KY that blew up on a bone color super spook in an empty dock stall, a keeper KY that blew up on the same lure on the point. Missed the bigger one that blew up on the next cast to the same spot. The keepers were 15" to 16" nothing large but certainly was a good few hours of fun. Mike Quillback 1
Quillback Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 That's a nice walleye. Nothing wrong with keeper sized spots, especially on top water.
Members Fishin4Fun Posted October 13, 2015 Members Posted October 13, 2015 Great report! Thanks for sharing. I was fishing that area on Saturday from a kayak. Probably saw you there. What did you get the walleye on? Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. -Henry David Thoreau ForwardMotion Designs Where Your Passions and Dreams Come To Life Online http://ForwardMotionDesigns.com

abkeenan Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Walleye was on a sq bill next to a stump. Shad color with a little yellow on it. Mike Have only caught 4 Walters ever in the dam area. All on accident while bass fishing. One on a spider jig, one on a red eye shad, one on a jerkbait (Long Creek) and one on a strike king square bill in open water. Weird....just like the guys that fish for them. No offense RPS.
Champ188 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 I had a decent Walter on down by the dam once but I was fishing close to Alex and an 11-pound LM that he was fighting swam over and ate it. big c and abkeenan 2
