Steve Smith Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 I know this has been posted before, but I thought I would bring it up in case someone missed the price increase. JEFFERSON CITY-Nonresidents will pay more for some Missouri hunting and fishing permits. Meanwhile, the price of one resident permit will decrease. The surcharge that hunters from some states used to pay for deer permits has been eliminated for the 2007-08 permit year. However, the price of the following permits will increase. * Nonresident small game permits will increase from $65 to $75. * Nonresident firearms any-deer permits will increase from $145 to $175. * Nonresident managed deer permits will increase from $145 to $175. * Nonresident archer's permits will increase from $120 to $150. * Nonresident spring turkey permits will increase from $145 to $175. * Nonresident fall firearms turkey permits will increase from $95 to $105. * Nonresident furbearer hunting and trapping permits will increase from $80 to $120. * Nonresident annual fishing permits will increase from $35 to $40. * Daily fishing permits (sold to residents and nonresidents) will increase from $5.50 to $7. The prices of daily small-game hunting permits and nonresident firearms and archery antlerless deer permits will not change. The price of resident cable restraint permits will decrease from $25 to $10. The price of nonresident landowner deer and turkey permits will not change. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
Dutch Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 That's a good thing. I know I pay through the nose when I hunt or fish out of state.
Danoinark Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Thanks Steve, I understand if I get my non residents license before the end of this month I can get the 07's at the 06 price, correct? Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Steve Smith Posted February 14, 2007 Author Posted February 14, 2007 I heard that Dano, but not sure if it's a fact. I'll see if I can find out for sure. ___________________________ AKA Flysmith - Cassville MO
Terry Beeson Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Yeah... maybe you danged ol' Arkies will stay out of my way on Taney now... (Disclaimer - This is intended for Dano from a "former" Arkie...) Oh, man... I just thought. I told russ and CC I'd be coming down soon to fish the Spring... that means I gotta buy a non-res license!!! What was I thinkin' when I moved up here? Ham Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Yep those out of state SOB's really need to pay through the nose. Whatever. Most states would benefit more via sales taxes increases if they gave Out of State fishing licenses away. They run off a lot of sales tax dollars and potential guide clients by charging too much for fishing licenses. I don't mind paying to play, but why hit me for more money a year to make a handful of trips a year than an in state guy that fshes once a month? Who benefits more from the resource? Oh well, at least I don't try to come up there and kill a turkey. $175 bucks to try to kill an overgrown wild chicken. Geez. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Terry Beeson Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Ham... I agree... they are a lot cheaper at Price Cutter... and you don't have to mess with pluckin' the feathers! But I do like to hunt the critters and hear 'em gobble back at me when they think I'm a beautiful amorous hen... And, I agree to an extent about the tax vs. license fees. Dano driving from Harrison to Taney once a month vs. a group of (insert wealthy type persons here) coming down for a few days fishing are two TOTALLY different things. The same goes for me when I go to Arkansas to hunt on the land that I own and my wife grew up on. It ain't fair... but my daddy always told me life was not fair... And Dano.... Ssshhhhhh about the driver's license.... Aeronikl Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Yes, if you get one now, in person or on-line, it is still the old price and good until the usual month in '08. I just got mine in the mail yesterday, ordered it to beat the increase after hearing about it on the Forum. The real bargain was for anyone from out of state who didn't have one for '06, if they bought it in December when the '07s went on sale, it was good for like 15 months.
Gavin Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The prices are pretty reasonable in relation to what you pay in other states but the hunting licenses seem high in relation to what you get. I cant see paying more than $10 to hunt deer (just a little something to cover the paperwork). Cheers.
