joeD Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Remember, Al is somewhat small in stature and in good shape. No one talks about height and weight when it comes to kayaks or solo canoes. It makes a big difference. A fat chump like me wouldn't even be considered in a target kayak demographic. For good reason too. Just something else to consider. Gavin and ness 2
Gavin Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Joe is right. Al is a stud, 5'8" a buck 60 at best. Benefit of the doubt, probably smaller. Just like he measures his smallmouth, round down 20%;)! Just Jealous;)!
Al Agnew Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Nah, I'm about 170 these days...the abs don't show anymore; there's a bit of padding covering them. Good point on size, though. A lot of boats are sensitive to weight, and height makes a difference in stability, too. We shorter people aren't as wobbly in a canoe. And a lot of solos won't handle more than about 250 pounds, no matter what the capacity figures say. On the other hand, some actually do better with a bit of a load. I like the way the Vagabond handles with me and a full load of camping gear.
