Bluff-Bassin Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I was looking at the map planning an upcoming trip and saw the glaize just seems to continue on forever, I'm assuming it starts getting pretty shallow up around the public launch has anyone seen how far you can take a boat? Looking at the arials there is a bridge way up there (Swinging bridge?) can you take a boat all the way up there? Granted i'm sure it depends on water level as well. I like running up creeks to fish but figured I'd see if I was better to save my gas and just ask those that probably already know. Thanks fellas!
Jerry Rapp Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 you think like I did 20 years ago. Yes, you could get up to the swinging bridge then at full pool. And no, it wasn't paradise. Learn to flip the right docks, or fish structure. Make some brush piles. You will be way ahead if fishing tournaments. If you want to just fish some fishy looking stuff, go up there. Don't expect much though.
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Depending on how soon your upcoming trip is, it may be a waste of time. There will likely be a good run of fish there after this deluge but it won't last very long. I'd say you've got a week or so beginning Wednesday that it will be worthwhile.

fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Sitting here working up some Spinnerbaits for the big-heads as we speak. It'll be a couple days before the Whites settle in. They don't like debris.

If I remember right Jerry I've seen you post several times about Clearwater lake which I've fished quite a bit. I was curious if it had some of the same type fishing as the black river arm when you get up around bluffview in the winter. In the last few years I've pretty well learned there is no magic bullet to fishing success and rarely a "promised land" but as I say that, it still doesnt stop me from wanting to explore new places! and as you said from the google earth it looked pretty fishy! Thanks gents as always sound advice. I was planning on fishing there for the day this monday, might just give it a try depending on all this rain!
WeekendWarrior Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 They are starting to pull water now for the last 4 hours 25CFS. Have not been out for a while, been chasing the deer. How has fishing been up your way wrench.
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Yeah I noticed that they opened the gates on Bagnell and Truman simultaneously. I bet we'll crest a tad over 660 tomorrow. It has been pretty slow for me the last week, but I've only been out for a few hours during the evenings. I hate this getting dark at 5:00 crap.
