Hey Phil - ????Micro Jigs????

So Phil, for those of us not in the know give us the low down on fishing micro jigs.

  1. What food do they represent?
  2. Do they work anywhere?
  3. How to fish on the fly and spin?
    1. Drift
    2. Swing
    3. Strip
  4. How to select colors?
  5. How are they constructed?
    1. With tails
    2. With body
    3. Just marabou
    4. The roach (just string) - Used at the trout parks do they fall into this category
  6. How to tie your own?
  7. Just for me...would they be a good choice as anchor fly on a wet fly rig?

Thanks In Advance

MIC

  1. What food do they represent?  Small bug?  Fish?  Not sure.
  2. Do they work anywhere?  Yes
  3. How to fish on the fly and spin?  You generally fish them under a float like a regular marabou jig.
    1. Drift
    2. Swing
    3. Strip
  4. How to select colors?  Guess... switch a lot till you find their color.  Then switch again when they stop hitting that color.
  5. How are they constructed?  If I knew that, I'd be making them.  It's a trade secret that no one has mastered except the Turner family.

    2. With body
    3. Just marabou
    4. The roach (just string) - Used at the trout parks do they fall into this category
  6. How to tie your own?  Can't
  7. Just for me...would they be a good choice as anchor fly on a wet fly rig?  In some instances but not generally.

You sure are demanding!!

Actually I was going to ask the same question. I have to see the jig with the trade secret. That's awesome.

They don't seem to have a web site.  Phil for those of us in StL.  Could we buy some via mail from your store?

Yes we'll ship.  This is a ginger micro (small).

They use hen hackle I think.  Shrink wrapped, not tied.  Hand painted.  The only negative is the hooks are weak.

They come in white, ginger, sculpin olive, pink  and brown I think.  Black too.  I'll have to see exactly what we have in stock.

Those hooks are weak like Phil said.  Plus when I have fished them they always don't seem to hold up very long.  They are fish catchers I'll give you that, but I always tie my own so I don't use those anymore for those reasons.

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
