Members Jack Perdew Posted November 30, 2015 Members Posted November 30, 2015 I'm one of those people that understands better with visual instruction , thought there might be a few others out there as well so here's some photos first striper hors d'oeuvre Brooder second striper vegetable threadfin shad Third striper t-bone steak large gizzard shad
J-Doc Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 I'm surprised how many bass anglers have never seen a gizzard shad much less know/understand what they are and how they live. I say this because I was one of those people for many years. Nice photos btw. And most people call "brooders" simply striper minnows. Need marine repair? Members Jack Perdew Posted December 1, 2015 Author Members Posted December 1, 2015 I fished grand lake for years using Threadfin shad catching them in the backs of creeks and mud flats. I Thought they were probably about the same, had no idea the difference in size until a few weeks ago.
J-Doc Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I had not tried netting threadfin until this year. They don't live very long and definitely need a round tank. EVERYTHING is eating them right now. They are like popcorn. Can't eat just one. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! Members Jack Perdew Posted December 1, 2015 Author Members Posted December 1, 2015 Yeah you breathe on them and they will die but they are the best catfish and the catfish don't care if they are dead. Ham 1
Dan the fisherman Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Nice pics jack. totally agree btw. I've been using all 3 with success. I prefer the shad when I can. But I always keep brooders in boat, just in case ?
1969Larson Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 You guys add some salt to the tank? Anything else?

Members Jack Perdew Posted December 1, 2015 Author Members Posted December 1, 2015 I change out the water every 30 min or less if I have large bait so adding anything would be a waste.
