mic Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Flysmallie... I watched this for the prince nymph, but I thought you might like the variation of the woolly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kldpL44ClLs&list=PL7f6qwpeGf5TN4cIUT-2S3aHjY3NHYWy_&index=12
fishinwrench Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Leroy is a cool cat. Sometimes I think he would have liked to punch Engerbretson in the throat. mic 1
Flysmallie Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Hey I remember when that show used to come on the local PBS Channel. Might still but I don't know. Those guys are a little too "elite" for me. Good looking brown bugger. Did they say big? That fly is not big. I'm not a fan of boogers for smallmouth though and I'd be afraid to fish that one and fish the river out. That would suck. But I do like boogers for trout. Not much more fun can be had than swinging a wooly booger across the top of the rebar hole on Taney. Man that's some fun stuff when it's right. Thanks Mic.
mic Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 I know you like your top water. What do you throw under the water for smallies?

mic Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 That looks like a lure, not a fly. Looks pretty fishy. Do you fly fish for smallies in the winter?

It's really no different than a clouser except for materials. Looks pretty fishy. Do you fly fish for smallies in the winter? No. There are other fish way more willing to eat a fly during the winter. To me fly fishing for smallmouth includes shorts and t-shirts. After that there are more effective methods to catching them or you can just fish for trash fish. You know, trout. fishinwrench, sean c and mic 3
