johnboy2bfishin Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I live down joe bald and the mud is at the confluence of the James and white. The mud is only coming from the James as this time.
Champ188 Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Leave it to the darn James to muddy everything up.
Members bassinjackson Posted January 3, 2016 Author Members Posted January 3, 2016 Put in at state park fished 8-3 ish. Tough for us had one keeper Kentucky fat as a hog with pincers hanging out of gullet that hit a spoon in 30 fow that was it. Talked to several others at the ramp that had tough day also. One guy had six keeps but he was the outcast. Water was clear and 51 with no debris seen from state park to back of Indian. Great day other than no fish.Indian point was dingy color but not muddy at all. Ramp was clear and courtesy docks were pulled up to ramp. No reason not to go guys. Good luck BearFisher10 and big c 2
Members Rick E Posted January 3, 2016 Members Posted January 3, 2016 Put in at State Park and fished from 1-5. Ramp is fine, no debris and clear water from there to Indian Point. Fishing not so good tho, only one short smallmouth. Tried shallow, deep and in between. Just too much water for them to hide I guess. Was good to get out and enjoy the lake. BearFisher10 1
Ranger Z22 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 I live on Aunts Creek, the water is as muddy as I have seen in a while. Brings me back to the days when I fished Mark Twain. z22 Hughesy 1

The reason you can launch at this ramp in high water is because the parking lot is at the top of Mt. Everest. The ramp is the foot of the mountain. Thank goodness for the guard rails running alongside the ramp. I haul myself up them like a stair banister. That ramp is a real cardio workout! dtrs5kprs, big c, Champ188 and 1 other 4 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."

dtrs5kprs Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I'd hate to see the holiday crowd trying to back down that ramp... Donna G 1

I'm always looking for the "facilities" at this time of day making the trek even more challenging for me and hilarious for onlookers. Wonder how many divorces have started on ramps? Watched a fist fight nearly break out between two small tuna rig owners at Mill Creek one time. When the fishing stinks, pack a lunch, sunbrella, lawn chair, cooler full of cold refreshments, set up shop and watch reality at the ramp. Extra bonus if you see the owner wade out up to his neck to get his boat on and off the trailer in a 15-20 mph southerly. Might make for a good t.v. show. Champ188 and Eric the awful fisherman 2
