podum Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 That's what I do. We may have different styles. The pressure I apply spinning deer hair and schlappen causes slip. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Flysmallie Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I doubt that anybody puts as much pressure on thread as I do. But now that I think about I do remember taking my jaws apart and roughing them up with some coarse sandpaper. That's probably the difference. podum 1

I have had mine 15 years and it can handle about anything. I use a pedestal base and it is rock solid. I have had several vises over the years including the Renzetti Traveler and others. Dynaking is better than anything else I have ever used, by far. OTOH, it is pricey. You get what you pay for though...it will last a lifetime. podum Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 Cuda might be a little too pricey. Considering. After further research, the current front runner is the Peak Rotary Vise. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
BilletHead Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Peak man here, also bought the smaller jaws. I am happy though this was my first vice purchase and have not tried any other. Price was right too, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" podum Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 will add the small midge jaws BilletHead 1 I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Lancer09 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Peak for me as well. I've tied with the smaller jaws as well, but don't own a pair myself. They do make things a LOT easier once you get down around 18. I think I'm going to pick up the Peak Jurassic vice at some point for bigger stuff. It's a pretty freaking awesome design that doesn't slip at all.
Nick Williams Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I have both a Peak and an Anvil Atlas. I just got the Peak, so I won't speak from personal experience on that one, but Peak's are very well known. I've had my Atlas for going on 4 years, and I haven't had any issues with it. I have tied from size 22 up to a 4/0 on the Atlas and haven't had any issues at all. The price point for both the Anvil and the Peak are fantastic as well. - Nick
motroutbum Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 If money is not an option then I would go with a Renzetti Master. However, I have both a Renzetti Traveler and a Presentation 4000. The cam on the traveler isn't as smooth as on the presentation, but either are an upgrade from the spider. There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
Members ChiaPet Posted February 13, 2016 Members Posted February 13, 2016 my spider vise came In yesterday. Here is the review I posted in the video forum.
