Alex Heitman Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 Yeah there were times we were catching them in 25-30 ft with the 1/16 head. Forgot to mention we only had 2 spinning reels set up for the little rig. I wanted my brother and dad to catch some fish so I rigged it up on a Lews BB1 pro, carbonlite 7ft medium, and 10 lb fluro. I was able to throw that 1/16 oz head pretty good and surprised me. Stuck quote a few with that setup haha. Would not recommend it though but it was fun using a jig hookset on the little bait.

I bust them even with the 6# line and spin stuff. Lost too many fish the first year or two trying to do the reel into them thing. It's not like loading one up on a grub. Still not sure why, might be the way they clamp down on it.
abkeenan Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Nice report Alex. Been awhile since anyone has had a report especially in our beloved dam area. Hopefully the water recedes soon and the water clears up for a nice winter/early spring jerker bite. Looks like your brothers K's has been eating good. Probably outweighs your dads smallie even though it is 2-3" shorter. Any of them burping up shad or craw daddy's? big c 1
