Well, the good news is that there still are trout in the creek.  Bad news is they are hard to catch at times!   Not so on Sunday.  I tore them up in the crappy cold weather.  It was freezing outside, but that seems to be when I do my best at trout fishing.  Yesterday was no exception.   Cold temps, spitting snow, overcast, some wind and it was cutting through as well.  I know the overcast day had a lot to do with my success so I guess you could say I love those conditions.  Anyways, went with my neighbor and he drew first blood with a small bow below the Mill dam.  I kept throwing and had no luck until I switched over to the other side and then I landed the first brown of the day.  Nothing big, maybe 12", but a pretty one to boot.  We fished there for about another 30 minutes and didn't catch anything else there.  Went to another hole and struck out there as well.  After that we went back to the truck and warmed up a bit before going to another location on the creek.  This time we picked the right spots.  In the first hole I scored another brown and it was on.  Before it was said and done we both caught our fair share of trout and I caught around a dozen.  All browns except one bow.  My neighbor had a mixed bag of bows and browns, but altogether we caught about a couple dozen between us.  Not bad on Capps.  Major color was an olive jig I tie with hackle on it.  Even after I lost the hackle they were still pouncing on it.  It was just one of those days where everything lines up just perfect.  I think the biggest of the day was a brown I caught.  Only went 14", but it was super skinny.  For those of you that have fished Capps and struck out, keep trying, they are in there.  I have the luxury of only being 20 minutes away so it is easy for me to make the trip and if I don't catch anything I am not out a lot of gas money or anything like that.  It can be hard to fish, but when you can unlock the secret it is a blast to fish.

"you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post"

There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!

Way to go!!! That was just too cold for me. Another 10 degrees and I'd be all over it. I hope next weekend is warmer. I really need a fish fix.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Hitting the creek today Ollie hope to encounter some of those browns myself. Thanks for a good report I'm taking a buddy and he just got his first fly rod.

Look for tracks in the snow and you will figure out where ollie caught all his fish.

I think I might hit it Sunday. Maybe Ollie will give me some pointers.

Had a good day down there. I caught five with one nice Brown in the mix. My buddy had several strikes but didn't hook up. He is adjusting to fly casting though and it was very cold. Saw a few really good fish and saw people keeping small fish. I hate that it gets cleaned out so fast.

I'll give it a shot. It's been hit and miss over the years, but can be great too.
