I am joining a group of guys on a trip to Taneycomo next weekend (4 Feb).  We typically have a good time fly-fishing below the dam.  I find wading in cold weather much more pleasant than fishing from a boat.  That being said, I am considering bringing my bass boat down because it seems like the generation may not let up this year.

I was wondering if there are places where there is decent wading when they are running 2-3 units that are accessible by boat.   I would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks.

id say theres pros and cons no matter what u do id say use the boat and put in near cooper creek and just keep going up to the dam then float to the ramp and repeat...i never like going down stream of the ramp i launch at that way if theres ever a problem with the boat i can always float back to the ramp under the currents power no one likes getting towed in cause they broke there prop on a rock i ruined my prop last trip in october...good luck either way you go you should do well

Not really.  2 units may be.  Not 3.

2 units you could get out at Lookout Island and wade up and down it.

We fished all day Saturday wading up by the cable all the way down past the 3rd outlet.  Wading was tough fishing for us.  We caught a dozen trout on Saturday using spinning gear, along with some bass, drum and a carp.  You will need to really chuck it out there into the channel and really work the bottom.  Saw very few guys on fly rods actually landing fish from the banks.  I would definitely recommend the boat if you have access to it.

The outlets and usual spots were either filled in with sand or just washed out altogether.  Outlet 1 was the big shocker.  Almost always you see fish up there, and they were nowhere to be seen...
