I do that all the time and have never had anyone get uptight about it.  Even had them come down and bring us beers.

I remember a pretty good one we got stuck in!

Me too!  When it's raining sideways and I can't get back to my truck, I'm real thankful to take shelter in an empty stall of someone's dock.  I always respect their property, and the dock owners I've met have always been great about it (even marinas).  I hope this new law won't do anything to change that.

Same for me basically, minus the beer ;).  Just seems like the wrong dock owner might use it to cause all sorts of hysteria if they felt empowered by the law in some way. Totally agree with the searching for a problem point. Have to wonder if this isn't a case of a representative working up a bit to show he is doing something for the people, by God.

For the most part we've never had an issue with this either but we have an A-Hole of a resort owner who lives directly across the cove from us. Bay Ridge Resort. Keep in mind this resort is closed and had been abandoned for at least 4 years. New guy bought it and is slowly trying to get it back open. We introduced ourselves to the owner early last April. One week later during my father-in-laws crappie tournament, several of our boats pulled into his empty slips to get out of heavy rain. He came down and told us we had to leave. Didn't care that we were neighbors and had met him a week prior. We obliged... Now he harasses us and threatens to call the police anytime we fish near his dock. I'm talking within 30 feet. He starts taking pictures and M F'ing us. You're probably thinking there's more to the story and that we have instigated stuff with this guy before, but I promise you we have not. We introduced ourselves, welcomed him to the cove, offered him business when his resort opens, and invited him over for a beer. As soon as we used his boat stalls to get out of the rain he has treated us like garbage. So if you are ever thinking about staying at Bay Ridge Resort (25 MM) in the future... DON'T... The owner, Ken something-or-other, is a terrible human being who doesn't deserve the business.

Not completely sure, but I think you have the right to slip into someones stall in inclement weather.  Thought I heard that somewhere.

There is no  such law Warthrat. you got a right to go anywhere on LOZ on the waters of the lake. I cannot imagine anyone ever bothering you for that.

i will not tolerate people harrassing fishermen. There are some real jerks that own docks down here but thank god they are for and few between. One guy rigged a sprinkler on the top of his dock and would turn it on when he caught you out there. You remember him Wrench. He nad a big sign up there as well demending that you not fish the dock. He got a visit from both the Power company and MDC. Told him remove the sign and  the speinkler are they would haul the dock away. There was another one something like that in north buck creek at one time. He would come down amd make remarks about go fish somewher else.I would just  stand there and flip a jig  in the water right at jis feet. That is the only two I have confronted. We have a new resident here though from out of state that may not understand that yet. I got dirty looks fishing there. So I just made it a habit. I pulled 2 nice bass off tht dock last summer right in front of them. May not make for good relations but I do not give a good flying rats a--.

If there is no "tesspassing law" on docks then you would most definitely have the legal right to pull into a dock to get out of the weather, regardless of the dock owners sentiments.  Bad form if the owner is there but I have never had one say anything other than "You better get under the roof before you drown".
