I have only fished from under the Arch and down stream to River Des Petes and anywhere around Columbia bottoms to The dam at Alton. Fishing  from a boat we see them anywhere there is a drop off or a hole over 3 feet in difference. usually  those spots are behind  permanent  underwater structure. ..I.E. sunken  barges and epuipment, Rock, Timber or barges that are moored will create a hole behind them. The Blues will start stacking up downstream from these spots already....the only bummer is ice flows normally  but with our scientifically declared  global warming  you are good to go nowadays this Time of year. Only use cut skipjack  if you are serious  and spring flows are heavy, we drift 6 to 8 ounce and fixed fish 10 to 16 ounce.....once you nail a few big Blues you are addicted  for sure but it's a slimy and dirty game.....most of my city fag friends will not go out of Columbia  bottoms in my Sea Ark. ...too dirty I guess......some of the best BIG cat fishing is right under the Arch....there is a big rock shoal just up stream right below the Eads bridge just on the Illinois  side of the channel. ....it ROCKS

I remember watching Mike Iaconelli on City Limits Fishing going after big blues down by the arch.  Caught a few 50+ pounds.
