Ben Gillispie Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Wow, Thanks a ton Devan. And thanks to everyone. Such a great resource, this forum. An unbelievable wealth of knowledge here. Love it. Ben
Members Squirrel Fishin' Posted February 18, 2016 Members Posted February 18, 2016 I have never been on the upper end of the kings (plan to this year) but floated the lower sections a handful of times. 62 bridge can get crazy crowded on the weekends, but they are making some changes to the parking. They have made a parking lot right off of the hwy and dont allow you to drive down to the gravel bar like before. Not a deal breaker but you will have to tote your gear a little farther. Maybe it will help with the crowding. I have caught a couple decent fish down river of 62 but mostly smaller ones.. And yes, the access at 86 has been blocked. As of Tuesday, there was a sign soon as you turned off 86 right in the middle of the trail that leads down there. There's no telling why these days I hope you get to try it out! Have fun and enjoy some of God's country!

Fishrman Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Ben call Jeff Fletcher for a guide trip, one float trip with him will extend years of knowledge for future trips. Money well spent. Champ188 and Ben Gillispie 2

Champ188 Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 His dad, JD Fletcher, was a true legend. Donna and I were proud to call him a good friend. Ben Gillispie 1
Browning Guy Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Spent several years growing up at Devils. Was by there not too long ago and noticed the old tractor was still there. When the fishing stunk, Jeff and I are the same age and used arrowhead hunt in the spring when Tablerock used to get down to 900. JD always said the Kings had to "have a good flush" before the whites would move up the Kings. Didn't know how good I had it growing up back then. JD was a full blown character. Ben Gillispie Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Everyone, Words can't describe how valuable this forum is...what an incredible resource! We floated from Stoney Point to Romp Hole. We caught 4 smallies, all under 15". It was by no means a bad decision. The place is beautiful. We used watermelon red hula stick neds the whole way. We both had several misses until we adjusted to the river. Those 4 fish we did catch were a blast. If it weren't for Devan S. it would have been a wild goose chase...his instructions/directions are well written. If anyone if planing any floating of the Kinds, take note of his post, it was very helpful. Quillback, Champ188 and dtrs5kprs 3
