$.50 Hole / $2 Hole

That's all of them I'm aware of. I think the dollar hole became the $2 hole before it closed. Been so long since I went to any of them I wouldn't be surprised if they were all closed now. Saw plenty of willful rudeness and privilege abuse back when I ran the shoreline. Will never forget seeing some dude chasing a sheep across the frosty pasture at the 50 cent one moonlit February night.

And Jol, as Phil stated, without clicking on a title like that, a feller could be missing out on "something". I figured it was a place where the drinks were cheap on the water.

This one is just downstream from the War Eagle Mill.  Gate is at the top of the hill west of the bridge.  Put a few bucks in, keep it clean, keep it quiet, be respectful so I can take my kids there next year too.

That's what I knew as the Graveyard Hole. There's an old family cemetery on the path to the creek bend. Back in the early '80s you could camp there, so a buddy & I spent the night on the gravel bar up from the bend. It was a decent night for March, the overnight warmth melting off the remnants of several inches of snow from the week before. We set up our chaise lounges & sleeping bags next to the fire, and I left my cheap hiking boots by the fire to hoping they'd dry out. When we woke at first light we found the creek had risen up under our lawn lounges as well as putting the fire out. I could reach my boots from the chair, but found that a log had rolled off the fire before the water rose and melted shut the toes of both boots. Live & learn..

I tried the WE today with no luck- fishing downstream from the bridge. Also talked to someone leaving the hole referenced above- they didn't have any luck either.

It's still a few weeks early , water is still to cold ! The warmer weather next week will help ..

I am thinking it is over, water temps are up in bass spawning temps now. Strange year.......I don't think the river will see the whites like years before. I saw 64 degree water yesterday, whites run around 50.

After doing some research on this it is not unusual for white bass to avoid muddy water and spawn on "windswept shores". They do not have to run down the river to spawn. I really think the Christmas rains messed up the whites and stripers this year. I saw a lot of BIG whites around Hickory Creek a couple of weeks ago, thought they were getting ready to run up the river, but never saw them up there. 

We will know soon, once the water hits 68 they will be through. I saw some big bass up in 2 feet of water yesterday, looked like they were starting to bed on the back of blackburn, that is usually the sign that whites are finished.
