3/12 report

Fished the Sac river from Aldrich. Water was 53 degrees, decent stain to the water. Put in at 715am, took out at 145pm. Caught a total of 34 whites (kept 30), and 2 LM (both short). White or shad color seem to be the one they liked. It was very slow, but very steady. Never caught more than 2 out of one spot. Fished all the way up river to where you could see taylor bridge, but getting to it would have been unwise unless you are in a jetboat. Story of the day was the boat next to us landing a 33" Musky...had i not seen it myself and someone told me that happened, I would have called them a liar and unable to identify a fish. It was quite the show watching this folks from Oklahoma trying to land this Musky on White Bass gear, but they did.

Probably a chain pickerel. Looks similar. They are in rivers

Years ago there was a bait store in greenfield that had one one the wall that was supposed to have come out of stockton . I have heard that they stocked them in there years ago.

They used to stock a hybrid called a Tiger Musky, but that was many years ago.  Wish I could see a pic of it.

Musky would be awesome.  Put some more in there  I'd be happy to trade  rattle snakes and copperheads  and  skunks  in on these      i remember. On a spinnerbait trip to pomme in 1995 I put a musky in my dual console champion or so Didn't take long to wish I had him back out !  

I have never seen one on Stockton. But in  1999   We were throwing. Stick baits  over. Brush up there and  I hooked a fish  and it bit a smith wick  in 2 .   Boden  said it had to be cracked ... I agreed ...but I  worked my weighted tackle over methodically.   I knew  deep down it was fine .

when Stockton was built northern pike and muskies were stocked and for several years we were catching them frequently while bass fishing. We caught northern up to 8-10 lbs and muskies up to about 15 lbs. they loved buzz baits and spinner baits and was a vicious strike when they hit. I don't remember what year it was but a virus of some kind got started and within a year they were all gone. Would like to see muskies put back in as it can be a thrill when ones hits your bass plug and with all the shad in Stockton there is plenty for them to eat.
