merc1997 Bo Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 got about 45 minutes of fishing before dark, and it was busy. caught about 20 with 3 keepers on iovino's crank bait and a few on a spinjig. after dark produced another 12 keepers with a few shorts mixed in, but mainly keepers. a 1/4 NuJig tied with orange hair tipped with a spring lizard pup did the damage. most bites were from 6 to 15 feet. we had 12 of the keeps before 10:30 pm. bo Muddy Water, 176champion, cheesemaster and 2 others 5
Members BassBlind Posted March 16, 2016 Members Posted March 16, 2016 Dang!! Nice work last night... that looks like a blast. I've never fished the Jig and trailer set up - need to give it a try - really trying to expand my game this year.

Blind, The jig and craw trailer is maybe the most versatile bait ever invented by the bass fisherman. It's a must on any body of water in America. You can throw it year round on any body of water and catch fish. I have one tied on 100% of every time I fish. Bo aka Merc1997 (OP of this post) makes NuTech Jigs which I fish almost exclusively as my jigs now. They are awesome and come through cover like no other. Worth a look if you are going to get a handful of jigs to start out. crazy4fishin 1

176champion Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 What weight of jigs would be used the most 3/8 oz 1/4 oz or what? I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
m&m Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 176, I mainly throw a 1/2 or 3/4 oz Nu-tech jig. I am partial to the football head shape. Mike

176champion Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Thanks M&M and Bo...i'll be getting with Bo some time soon...i live about 25 miles from Bo...im on highway 39 between Aurora and Jenkins... I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
abkeenan Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I probably throw a 1/2oz 90% of the time. Just a good all around weight/size fishing from 1 foot out to 35 feet. I'll go 3/8oz at times and also 3/4oz at times when the situation dictates. I don't bother with the 1/4oz as if I have to go that small I'll probably be throwing something else on spinning gear. I also don't bother with 1oz+ jigs as there aren't any grass mats or pads to punch on TR. Some may like the heavier weights but I find they just get snagged more than the lighter weights. The 1/2oz is magic number for me but everyone fishes different. Smalls21 1
merc1997 Bo Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 here is a pic of what we caught the bass on last night. this color always gets them the moon of march, and after that, you just put it up until next year. next month you had better be throwing brown and blue during the moon. bo Muddy Water 1
