MOPanfisher Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Dang I opted to not go to the dam on Saturday. They are definitely not done spawning in the lake. River fish in the river should be finishing up, but the lake spawned will be a while more yet. Hookeyes 1
dprice Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Just a novice tip here Yes That can not all go to the bank at same time I figure not enough shallows to support it But on the other hand Not all spawn deep biggest contributor I have ever noticed is how the water withdrawal is handled leading up to this Dprice priceheatingair.com
Members Hookeyes Posted March 27, 2016 Author Members Posted March 27, 2016 Great info! Thanks guys. I am heading there Tuesday and will report back.
Members Map Guy Posted March 28, 2016 Members Posted March 28, 2016 Went Saturday evening around the dam. We had our two limits between 7:00 - 10:00. Biggest around 3.5 lbs. Stick baits. Two were still full of eggs. Lots of boats around there. Didn't add the picture from Saturday evening at the time. Here is a shot. crappie-hunter, marcus, moodyfour and 3 others 6
MOPanfisher Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 NICE! Looks like a few sows are showing up. Guess no nap in the big chair this evening, I will have to give it a shot. Been there before and left empty handed or worse. Last time I drove my old fishing car with rods in passenger seat, as I reached over to get my coffee or a cigar or something a nice big sharp treble hook took a liking to my shirt sleeve and penetratef all the way through 2 layers of the sleeve on my right arm. Now my right arm is restricted, can't get it loose with left hand finally got knife out and did a little surgery on the shirt sleeve, whereupon everything came loose nicely, and then fell down between the seats, leaving me to fish around for a multi hooked lure somewhat blindly, surprisingly it came out without snagging me or the seat. Good times. Lifes2Short, lmt out and tho1mas 3
MOPanfisher Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Well I tried. Got there just before dark, saw several walleye caught, both to the left and to the right. Finally caught a nice white bass, then got the "whack", right time and place, set the hook and it dove, shook its head a couple times then started to flex it muscles and said "I don't think so buddy" had it for about 10 seconds. Don't know if I had a weak spot in my line, or it cut me on a rock or tooth, but poof it was gone and my jig with it. Can't say for sure what it was but it was sure in the right place and time and had the head shake of a walleye. Caught one small 15 1/2 inch male a little while later, but was so dejected I released it and took my toys and left. Did hear of a nice sow caught last night though I didn't see it. Dang near made a big splash, knees not working as good anymore, and after standing in hip boots for an hour or so, when I turned to wade back my knee didn't want to do it, missed going backward into the chilly water by a gnat hair. So goes it. Come on crappie time, I can catch you critters. slab slinger 1
Members Hookeyes Posted March 30, 2016 Author Members Posted March 30, 2016 Fished Tuesday night 4-8 with no luck. Had to go in because the lights didn't work. Used stick baits along dam and the north point of the island. Saw a Loon, which was sweet! Can't wait to try again.
