Smalliebigs
Well I fished with Hog wally for about three hours on Tuesday. We noticed right off the bat the water clarity was horrible. We found out later as we ventured further up stream some old dude was bulldozing big rocks and debris down a high bank into the river. It sounded like a landslide and was reeking havoc on the water clarity below him. The water temps at the surface were 52 to 53 when we launched at 10:00am and we saw 56 and 57 as the day wore on. We were trying to run and gun and really search for some fish. We were throwing Jerkbaits,Cranks and spinnerbaits....if we located some fish we had planned to nail them with some Mitch craws. So much for the plan....the water clarity was so bad you had to hit a fish in the face but, if you did they would eat. The fishing was about poor at best and we caught no smallies(Brian Jones 55 to 60) They are staging near or around spawning areas.....at least that's my opinion....it will be a big April spawn compared to most years, which as long as the water flow is stable enough kicks butt!!!! I'm done with the river bass for a few as I just don't like messing with fish trying to reproduce and guard fry. Walleye and Hybrids/Whites and farm pond bass for my ego for a bit......also a few runs on the Mississippi and Missouri for some Blues. here is a pic of one of the fattest 15 to 16 inch Spots I have ever seen.....it's girth was near it's length for sure. We caught a few but, after trying to pound a square peg in a round hole for awhile we had enough. I did catch a few on a Spinnerbait which was a first for me this year and Hog Wally had to show me what a RiverPro can really do if needed.....he had to pull a Le Mans turn through one run that was as Al Agnew says had some serious pucker factor to it....fun ride though go4ducks2, Brian Jones, Smallieguy87 and 4 others
