Vinsott Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Son and his wife came to visit so decided to take a late afternoon boat ride with some casts thrown in. It was fairly windy so tried to stay on the calm side of things. Tried a small jig on my 4lb spinning set up and caught some babies. A green sunfish, a 7" smallie, a 10" walleye and this whopper of a bluegill. Then I had something "good" on the little jig. Chased it with the trolling motor and finally my son netted my trophy sucker or carp or whatever it was. It was foul hooked in the pectoral fin. It was a great fight. Trolled for a little bit with no results. Grabbed a bait caster and started flinging a keitech toward shoreline. Connected with a 31" striper. Not huge but fun. Everyone was hungry so headed back in to eat and released all fish. Lance34, Quillback, Dan the fisherman and 3 others 6
Deadstream Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Carp are VERY underrated here in the Free World.... Very Fun!
Stump bumper Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Looked like a good day, I bet that big carp was fun. I netted one that was dying of old age one day just to weigh it and it was 64lbs. Probably a good thing that people don't like carp in this country they wouldn't get to live that long. There are some really colorful and big carp in the lake and it doesn't cost us anything to stock or maintain the population plus they don't eat other fish, beats a day of catching 10in spots. If only we could get people to think the same way about walleye......those nasty fish with too many bones. Vinsott and Ron Burgundy 2

I've seen piles of large carp washed up or dumped on the beaches the last few years. I'm not against the sport, just curious of the impact ( if any)
