This is my choice.  If you go up the James, you may just find one in 8' of water that I lost last week.

I agree although I haven't had a non shimano spinning reel.

I have had good luck with Shimano and Plueger president reels. I'm a 95%+ wade fisherman and have had both brand of reels last a fairly long time after being in water, sand, thrown on gravel bars, etc.

I have used the pflueger reels and have liked them. It seems that most people prefer those or shimano reels, but I am also leaning towards the lews reels since they are made locally.
