Brian Sloss Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Took Willie, a Louisiana turkey hunter in Missouri for the season, on a guided trip Thursday. The river has been fishing poorly for trout most of the spring, with a few exceptions. Our day was hopefully a good sign of things to come. Willie landed over 20 fish and lost around 10 more. We had to get about a mile from the access points to do much good and we had to really take our time to find hotspots, but when we did, we were rewarded. We had our best luck on Pat's rubber legged golden stone and prince nymphs fished deep. Willie's biggest fish landed was a 17.5 inch fatty. A number of smaller, probably 1-2 year old wild fish were caught as well. Also, we lost another fish in the 17-18 inch range. Good day. I was supposed to be on the water today, but we are expecting over 2 inches of rain in the form of thunderstorms today, so I had to cancel. Rain expected to start around 10 am here. netboy Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Good report. Glad to hear the river is fishing better. Love those wild rainbows!
Johnsfolly Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 That is a great rainbow! It's got some girth. Looks like a great day.
Members MJREDDY Posted May 5, 2016 Members Posted May 5, 2016 How's the Eleven Point look overall, Brian? If I were blindfolded and taken to some of my favorite spots on Current and Meramec I might not recognize them. Lotta flood events rearranging things.
Brian Sloss Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 We had a big flood this past winter and it changed a few things, but the river looks fine now. Those who know the river really well will notice the changes,. but others won't notice any difference trythisonemv 1 www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
