put in the water around 7:50 and back on the trailer at 12:30.  as i suspected, the bass were post front type of mood, not active.  did end up with 6 nice ones, but the bites were a long time apart.  i finally caught a legit 6 lber.  had a 4 and a couple of 3's, a 2 1/2 lb. chunk, and a squeaker  kentucky.  the 4 and the kentucky came on the jig, and the other 4 came on a 1/2 CrazyBlitz, which is a bladed jig.  it took the vibration to trigger a bite,  i worked in the 6 to 12 ft. zone with a crank and coast retrieve.  had many tuggers and nippers, and then one would finally latch one and lock it up.  tried a SpinJig also, but never did get any interest on it.

here was the perfect lesson in dealing with inactive bass.  keep trying different approaches to find something that  will make them reflexively strike at your lure.  that bladed jig filled up what a limit that was not much to speak of until i put one on and tried it.  i did try several types of retrieves before i unlocked what would trigger a response.

drop shotting to me is another depth and speed control presentation to trigger bites.  i view the little guy the same.  even though it has to be worked sometimes very slow, fish it the right depth and get the right speed and it will trigger bass into biting.

so, what i did when i went to the CrazyBlitz was to cover a lot more water.  i had a lure that was getting some of the bass that it went by to take, at least some kind of swat at it, and a few of them struck with enough interest to eat it.

there are many ways to catch bass, but it still boils down to fishing the right depth at the right speed to trigger a reflex bite.

no pics, because my phone is in my wife's car in Tulsa.

Hey Bo, are you fishing a trailer on the Blitz?   I have been thinking about trying those things, they sure look like they ought to catch fish.

quil, last night i just had a small chunk type trailer on.  i know many that use some type of swim bait for a trailer such as the swing impact or a lake fork boot tail swim bait.  i do not recall having a bite last night while cranking, they all came when i stopped and it was coasting back to the bottom.  guess it just depends on the mood of the bass.  that is why to keep changing retrieves until you find one that works.
