What caused this?

Caught this guy out of a pool below river round today. There was an immature bald eagle fishing that hole when I got there, think these look like talon marks?

Maybe, I've never really seen one torn up on the bottom like that, except near the tail during spawn.

I would about bet on the Eagle. Top one looks like a talon cut. I have seem them in a small dogs back, They are more knife like than pointed.

The bald eagles and Ospreys could have a field day with the fish in a foot of water right now.

Was out Sunday afternoon, upstream from the Huzzah, a mature bald eagle flew over tree top high, turned around was coming back towards us and dived down to the water.  His talons hit the water but came up empty...his luck was the same as mine.  Tough day of fishing but that was a neat sight.
