I had the opportunity to go fishing with zaraspook two weeks ago, and after we caught lots of bass on c-rig,jig and crankbaits he showed me his technique of trolling for crappie.

Within a hour we had 11 keeper crappie several shorts, white bass and blacks, I learned that it's where, how deep and speed you troll.

Zara flat knows his stuff about trolling and was kind enough to show me a little of his vast knowledge for trolling! I'm sure he is still whacking them trolling!

Last year on Mother's day my wife and I got 2 limits of crappie in about 3 hours we long line trolled a blue tiger #7 flicker shad. We did this several days in a row. I got tired of cleaning crappie so we set a 12" limit. It was great time. Our neighbors loved us, we had enough to share.

It is not like that this year.

When you spend 28+ years fishing the same lake and keep good notes-- A pattern becomes clear... Give or take a week, each year the fish are doing the same thing..

Of course floods & droughts will change where the fish will be but, the fish will still be doing their thing..

Thanks to Hammer time for the great info on jigs and jig fishing techniques....

May I have a copy those notes ?

Sure...(LOL)

IF you can show me on a map where, in the lake, the "O" hole is and the "Twin Towers" are and the "Christmas Parade" are located...

Because, you need to know this kind of data to understand the notes....

I know nothing about Stockton - never fished it. I target a species different from crappie, although I catch some really nice accidents. Still, I hope this link will help you. The same basic principles apply, although the location choices might differ.

Trolling can mean different things to different people. Is it the slow trolling variety using spider rigs or trolling behing the boat using crank baits?

Kramr most likely around here they are talking about Cranks Normally spider rigging is done over schools of fish or some sort of pile (Timber fish attractor or bait school, rock walls)and typically anchored
