Mike jones Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Yes, we finished 2nd. There was still a few dead ones weighed in and the 1 pound penalty I'm sure is in place to help detour that. I wish we were drawing more boats in the night tourneys but last night I think we only had 25 or so boats.
RyanG Posted June 19, 2016 Author Posted June 19, 2016 Congrats on the finish mike! That's more weight than I can even think of catching on beaver. Haha. And stump, there were a lot of dying fish at the Friday night jackpot, only real reason I said anything about was because of the carelessness of some I saw regarding their fish and thought the least that could be done is to say something about it. So thank you guys for your input! If it even makes one person think about keeping their fish healthy in this heat then it was worth it in my eyes.
Mike jones Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 We weighed, took this pic and then went down and made sure our fish swam off. RyanG and Lance34 2
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 19, 2016 Root Admin Posted June 19, 2016 What if there was an app that allowed you to create your own tourney, measure your fish and upload it to the icloud leaderboard? Make holding, traveling and weighing fish obsolete. RyanG, Blll, Ham and 1 other 4
Blll Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Great idea. Measure em' all and count best 5. Sounds like a plan. Getting accolades from your peers as you hold up a big fish can be addicting. But the feeling of watching it swim away with vigor is even more so. We just have to get more guys to try it. Replace drama with conservation and sustain a great thing....Hmmmmmm.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 19, 2016 Root Admin Posted June 19, 2016 Top 5 I think could be added - or count all bass caught - total inches. There's an app like this in the works. Ham and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Stump bumper Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 No big lines at the weigh in, no one running over you because they are late for the weigh in. It will never work, takes NASCAR out of fishing. A lot people stuck on ounces, will take a while to adapt to quarter inches, but I would fish a tourney again if they used such an app. Sure would make night fishing safer, and save bass in the process. Big question is what would prevent someone from riding around with a 22 inch fish and taking 5 pictures? You would need a small group you trusted IMO. If you say you can tell it is the same fish, have you ever noticed how they change color in the live well? Then knowing my luck, I would catch a 24 inch small mouth just right where there is no cell phone signal....lol Blll 1

This app would measure fish pretty accurately so if you had more than one that would measure almost exact, you'd take a close look at it. The honest factor works in any tournament... we pay for a polygraph guy to come in once in a while to keep the fear factor there. It's a well spent $300. Cell phone service- that's one we haven't addressed. I bet it would keep the data on the phone till you were in coverage, then upload.
chi0082 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 It's funny how people think that fishing a tournament at night in the summer is ok because it's not as bad as during the day when it's hotter. As if the water temp drops from 91 to 60 as soon as the sun sets. I strongly think tournament fishing at anytime during the summer months should be outlawed PERIOD! I've seen wayyyyy too many dead bass in my time from all the tournaments held in the warmer months. Having ice in a livewell only makes matters worst. Taking a fish from 90 degree water and dropping it in 50 or 60 degree cool water gives it a sudden shock that will either kill it or severely stress out the fish. They are not designed to go from one extreme to another extreme in temperature in such a short time. Then after struggling for hours trying to acclimate themselves to the cool water in your livewell, you end up throwing it back out into 90 degree water at the ramp after weigh-in. Now tell me that doesn't spell "Death" to a fish. Just because you see a fish swim off does NOT mean it will survive. Many bass will swim off and die many hours after release. I have woken up to a morning of dead bass all over the banks from a summer night tournament too many times. Sorry I don't really sugar coat my replies so if this offends you or hits you the wrong way, good. Stop fishing summer tournaments!
